The Mission is being developed at the site of the old Bryan Foods/Sara Lee plant. Before the plant closed, it was West Point’s largest employer for many years. The revitalization means a great deal to a lot of people – bittersweet to some.
The project is a residential treatment center for men suffering from addiction. It’s a 6 month program that takes a faith based approach. We’re finding that the need goes beyond drug addiction - individuals coming out of our prison system need help transitioning back into society… and surprising to us, drug use inside the prison system is as prevalent as it is on the outside. Think addiction treatment and workforce development bundled together.
Our main facility is a ~28,000 sq. ft building that once served as the Sara Lee administrative offices . Over the last 3 years, the building has been reinvigorated thanks to hundreds of volunteers and a very persistent man named Brother Dickie.
